Strategic Management

Welcome to the Strategic Management course at New World University.

This course focuses on strategic management, devising and executing the major goals and initiatives taken by an organization’s leadership, keeping in minds its available resources and the culture and contexts in which the organization exists and operates. Strategic management provides high level direction to a firm and involves codifying the objectives of the organisation, developing policies, procedures, and plans to reach those goals, and then deploying resources to put those plans into motion. Those in higher education and industry have developed many frameworks and models to help with strategic decision-making in complex and competitive contexts. Strategic management is not something that only happens once, it should include a feedback loop so that the results can be considered in the next cycle of planning.

This course relies with our gratitude on the first edition of Mastering Strategic Management by Dave Ketchen and Jeremy Short, and as such its long form readings are released under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 3.0 License.
