New World University in Nigeria!

‘Stay committed to your decisions, but stay flexible in your approach.’ – Tony Robbins

For several years now, we at New World University have been putting together the pieces needed to realise our dream of building an institution capable of making higher education accessible to students in lower income countries.

We began by making use of open educational resources to build a complete curriculum for a Bachelor degree in Business, with a specific focus on International Business Leadership. We brought together educators with expertise in various business subjects. We recruited a cohort of students to learn from us without charge, so that our educators could learn from the experience of teaching our curriculum, and those students could offer feedback to help us ensure that what we teach is useful to them.

Throughout this process we operated in a country in the West Indies under a special type of charter that gave us the leeway needed to become organised. In particular, this allowed us the legal status necessary to recruit our initial cohort of students. But we have outgrown that location even while we’ve decided to focus primarily on serving students in Nigeria.

As such, we are pleased to announce that we are rechartering in Nigeria, and applying for licensure through that country’s National Universities Commission. There is much work to do, and significant investment to be made in facilities and personnel, but we are confident this is the most appropriate path to follow to best serve students in one of the fastest growing and dynamic countries of the 21st century.

We’ll be offering monthly updates on the rechartering process here. And as always, if you’re interested in what we’re doing and would like to learn more, please reach out by email: info@newworld.ac
