This past Thursday, H.R. 1891 (“A bill to extend the African Growth and Opportunity Act, the Generalized System of Preferences, the preferential duty treatment program for Haiti, and for other purposes”) was approved by the Committee on Ways & Means of the U.S. House of Representatives.
H.R. 1891 was ordered favorably report to the House of Representatives by voice vote (with a quorum being present)
In addition to there being no recorded vote, there were no amendments to the bill in the mark-up session on April 23.
No committee action on the companion bill in the Senate, S. 1009, has been taken so far.
UPDATE: The Senate Finance Committee, chaired by Orrin Hatch (R-Utah), favorably reported S. 1009 as part of a package of trade legislation in a markup session on April 22.
